Santiniketan Travel Program
Santiniketan, meaning "Abode of Peace," was founded by Maharshi Debendranath Tagore, father of Rabindranath Tagore. Rabindranath later transformed the site into an innovative education centre, creating the Visva-Bharati University, which promotes holistic education, art and connection with nature. His vision of free and creative learning continues to attract students and travellers from around the world.
Day 1: Arrival in Santiniketan
Departure from the city of origin to Santiniketan, located in the state of West Bengal, India. Check in at the hotel and short rest. Walk around the city to get to know its peaceful atmosphere and nature. Dinner with local Bengali cuisine.
Day 2: Exploring the History of Santiniketan
Breakfast at the hotel. Visit to Visva-Bharati University, founded by Rabindranath Tagore in 1921, a learning center based on harmony with nature and artistic creativity. Tour of Rabindra Bhavan, a museum dedicated to the life and work of Tagore. Lunch at a local restaurant. Walk through Amar Kutir, an artisan community where traditional Bengali products can be purchased. Free afternoon to explore the city or relax. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 3: Art and Culture in Santiniketan
Early breakfast. Visit to Kala Bhavan, Visva-Bharati's fine arts college, famous for its murals and sculptures. Participation in a Baul singing and dancing session, a typical musical tradition of Bengal. Lunch with traditional food. Tour of local markets to buy souvenirs and handicrafts. and in the evening we took to visit "Konkalitola" and celebrated the "Sondha Arti" Return to hotel and dinner.
Day 4: Nature and Reflection
Breakfast. Walk through Deer Park, a natural space with deer and exotic birds. Time for meditation or writing inspired by Tagore's legacy. Lunch and departure to hometown.
